As I write this I have no idea how long I have been ‘self isolating’ although judging by the laughter and singing outside I must be the only one. The pandemic has of course changed the ‘normality’ of life for the vast majority of us. Some of us are even postulating that this virus will change the very fabric of society for the better. I disagree. The entire system, at least in the UK, has been designed to make us into drones, wage slaves, sheep or what ever term you feel best fits. I cannot see there being a universal basic income or more investment in the health care system. This is, in my humble opinion, contrary to what the powers that be want.
Feed us our soaps, our social media, keep educating children what to think, not how to think. Give us our trivial, brain dead celebrity gossip. Point out that Celebrity A is wearing a bikini that emphasises her ‘pert derriere’ that Celebrity B is secretly gay.
Give us each day our daily hate and forbid us our freedoms as we forbid others. Lead us not into awareness, but saturate us in slavery for thine is the kingdom the power and the glory.
There will be no grand awakening, we live in a system designed to crush us. We seem to have forgotten that Governments are our employees. Instead they have over the years changed this with things such as the fixed term parliamentary act. They decide how much they get paid, they decide where the money is spent. No public consultation, no transparency. They have no fear of losing their jobs, after all the most vicious, sociopaths will rise to the very top. Those that aren’t still have a few years to make all the important contacts to set them up for life.
Like all pestilent infestations they are difficult to get rid of. Voting will not do it, all that achieves is a new set of career politicians, ready to feather their own nests.
The system needs to be burnt to the ground.
It’s rather disconcerting when you see some of your own thoughts so eloquently expressed : )

I was discussing this the other day with a friend. She said but now is the time to make the changes happen. I said nothing would change, no matter how much we want it. And basically what you’ve said is exactly how I feel. There is no revolution.
